Siesta Key is an eight mile long island separated from Lido Key by the Big Pass waterway. Two bridges connect Siesta Key to Sarasota's mainland. This magical island is world famous for it's snow-white and ultra-fine sand. Siesta Key Beach has received numerous awards including being voted the #1 beach in the US, winning a worldwide competition for the "whitest, finest sand beach" and the Travel Channel listed Siesta as one of the top ten beaches in America. This sand is soft and cool, even in the midday heat. The breathtaking sunsets, which offer a very special atmosphere, are celebrated every Sunday evening by drummers and sunbathers with a festive drum circle.
The broad north end of Siesta Keys is traversed by the natural, heart-shaped Grand Canal, which flows through the Intracoastal Waterway into the Gulf of Mexico. The Grand Canal has been supplemented by man-made canals, so this area is characterized by idyllic waterways. This is where the lively Siesta Village is located, which radiates pure joie de vivre with Caribbean flair. Restaurants, rustic bars with live music, small shops, supermarket, post office, etc., here you will find everything you need for daily life as a tourist or resident. The quiet, mature residential area around the town center offers older, now often renovated "little beach houses", sophisticated villas, both with or without a boat dock and chic apartments right on the beach. So original Florida charm could be preserved here.
The central part of the island is dominated by large condominiums built along the crescent-shaped Crescent Beach. A second village center is located on the southern part of the island, also with restaurants, live music and shops. Along Midnight Pass Road, the road that winds through the narrow south end to Turtle Beach, are small beach houses and many large luxury properties either beachfront on the west side or directly on the Bay and Intracoastal Waterway on the east side. With its diversity, vibrancy and beauty, Siesta Key offers something for all tastes and ages.
